President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team announced Thursday that Caroline Wiles, daughter of Jacksonville political consultant Susie Wiles, has been hired to a White House staff position.

Susie Wiles has years of political experience working behind the scenes but now will be in the spotlight as President-elect Donald Trump’s closest adviser and confidant.

The first female White House chief of staff is a longtime Florida operative and onetime aide to moderate Republicans who is “more about strategy than ideology.”

Donald Trump announced that Susie Wiles, his campaign co-chair, will be appointed as his White House chief of staff.

"It is a well deserved honour to have Susie as the first-ever female chief of staff in United States history," he continued. "I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.” Wiles, 67, is the first woman to be appointed White House chief of staff.
